Kids Emporium has selected Miracle Kidz for our social responsibility for 2010. After spending a heartfelt afternoon with the founder and house mother, Elsie earlier this month, our team was more than touched. What is Miracle Kidz? Miracle Kidz provides a safe and loving temporary home / safe house to abused and abandoned children. Miracle Kidz feeds, clothes, tends to any medical requirements and introduces these children to a family structure thus preparing them for a more positive future. Elsie believes each one of the children is indeed a “Miracle Kid”, for they are survivors of abuse, abandonment and neglect. Besides tending to their illnesses, they try their best to mend broken hearts and spirits. Where did it all begin? Elsie has always had a dream to care for abandoned children. Elsie and her husband became foster parents in 2004 to a little girl (who at the time was 18 months old), and a year later to a boy (then 5 months old) – whom they have since adopted. They then decided to open their hearts and home to more children in need of a safe place to stay and someone to care for them. How can you help? As a nonprofit organization, Miracle Kidz relies on sponsors and donations to feed, clothe and care for the children. Kids Emporium has asked Miracle Kidz to compile a Wish List. Please feel free to drop off any of these supplies at our head office or any Cape Town store and we will arrange that Miracle Kidz receives.
